The Economist is an English-language weekly news and international affairs publication owned by The Economist Newspaper Ltd. and edited in offices in London..Continuous publication began under founder James Wilson in September 1843. For historical reasons The Economist refers to itself as a newspaper, but each print edition appears on small glossy paper like a news magazine, and its YouTube channel is called Economist Magazine In 2006, its average weekly circulation was reported to be 1.5 million, about half of which were sold in the United States.

DOAB: Directory of Open Access Books

The Directory of Open Access Books ( http://www.doabooks.org/)  is a service of OAPEN Foundation. The OAPEN Foundation is an international initiative dedicated to Open Access monograph publishing, based at the National Library in The Hague. DOAB is being developed in close cooperation with Lars Bjørnshauge and Salam Baker Shanawa (director of SemperTool), who were also responsible for the development of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). SemperTool develops and maintains DOAB system.

DOAB supports the OAI protocol for metadata harvesting (OAI-PMH). Service providers and libraries can use the protocol to harvest the metadata of the records from DOAB for inclusion in their collections and catalogues.

     The Open Access Journals Search Engine (OAJSE) service covers free, full text, quality controlled journals. It covers journals in all subjects that are published in English language. There are now 4,775 journals in the directory. All are searchable at article level. The aim OAJSE is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is website maintained by Lund University which lists open access journals.

They defines open access journals as scientific and scholarly journals that meet high quality standards by exercising peer review or editorial quality control and does not charge readers or their institutions for access DOAJ, as the rights to "read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles"

As of October 2011, the database contained 7116 journals, with an average of four journals being added each day for the month of September.The aim of DOAJ is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact.
